TAIERI GORGE RETREAT
We have for genuine sale this quaint three bedroomed cottage set in spectacular countryside approximately 50kms from Dunedin City.
Built circa 1912 and modernised and added on to at varying stages the cottage is very unique. The kitchen has been constructed of Kauri, recycled from a Bank at the nearby Outram township. A mixture of old and new with a huge state of the art oven as well as a fully operational coal range and open fire, providing cooking and heating. There is some strategic double glazing to retain the heat. Water comes from a neighbours spring.
The home is steeped in history known to be where the family that once owned the Tearooms a short horse and cart ride down to the railway siding lived in and produced all the baking and food required for the tearooms. Another family with 13 children is also known to have lived here.
The excursion train now meanders up the tracks especially when the cruise ships are in and can be viewed from the property.
Fishing and hunting are recreational opportunities amongst the rugged hills and on the Taieri River just down below the property.
At around the price of a section in Mosgiel this unique cottage offers many opportunities whether that be a crib or main dwelling.
Please call to organise a viewing.
